Florence Baker (c. 1841–1916) Born somewhere in Transylvania—the town of Aiud keeps her memory alive—she was orphaned, enslaved, and reborn as an explorer of the Nile. She left behind a date, several names, and no birth certificate. Sold at a slave auction in the Ottoman Empire and freed at nineteen by English explorer Samuel Baker—Florence crossed Africa with him. In 1864, she became the first European woman to reach Lake Albert, a source of the Nile. She rode camels, spoke five languages, carried a pistol, and saved the entire expedition when the people revolted. The Acholi of the Nile called her the Morning Star. Denied entry to Queen Victoria’s court for her scandalous past, she ended her days a famous English lady—a woman who lived many lives in one. Florence Baker (c. 1841–1916) Născută undeva în Transilvania — orașul Aiud îi păstrează memoria — a rămas orfană, înrobită și a renăscut ca exploratoare a Nilului. A lăsat o dată, câteva nume și niciun act de naștere. Vândută la o licitație de sclavi în Imperiul Otoman și eliberată la nouăsprezece ani de exploratorul englez Samuel Baker — Florence a traversat Africa alături de el. În 1864 a devenit prima femeie europeană care a ajuns la Lacul Albert, o sursă a Nilului. A călărit cămile, vorbea cinci limbi, purta un pistol și a salvat odată întreaga expediție când oamenii acesteia s-au răzvrătit. Poporul Acholi de pe Nil a numit-o Steaua Dimineții. Refuzată la curtea reginei Victoria pentru trecutul ei scandalos, și-a încheiat viața ca o celebră doamnă engleză — o femeie care a trăit mai multe vieți într-una singură. Opening of the exhibition: October 2027 at the “Inter-Art” Galleries from Aiud, Romania.
Fundaţia “Inter-Art” Aiud lansează o nouă provocare pentru artiştii din lumea întreagă.
Vernisajul expoziției va avea loc în luna octombrie 2027, la Galeriile Inter-Art din Aiud.

Format: max. A4 (21 x 29.7 cm | 8.26 x 11.69 inch)
Deadline: August 1, 2027 (arrival date of the works!)
Works that are ethnically, politically, religiously or sexually offensive may not be accepted.
Participants must complete the entry form that can be either downloaded from www.inter-art.ro, or requested by email at [email protected]
Please send only digitally filled in forms (not handwritten / scanned forms).
Documentation and presentation of the exhibition on the Facebook page of the “Inter-Art” Foundation.
The artworks will NOT be sent back, will enter the patrimony of the “Inter-Art” Foundation.

Nu acceptam formulare completate de mână sau incomplete.
Documentația și prezentarea expoziției pe pagina Facebook a Fundației „Inter-Art” Aiud.
Lucrările nu se returnează, ele vor intra în patrimoniul Fundației „Inter-Art” Aiud.
